How your "Attitude" affects your "Life"

“Life is a beautiful message in a bottle. Everyone has one, you only need to break the glass to get to your dreams”.

Graceson Ellison

How do we maximize our God-given potential? It takes the right attitude, self-motivation, being in the good company of great people, and understanding there are no limits just because someone else said there are. I’ve seen college football players with the use of only one arm blast into the NFL as a standout, Olympic winners with no legs, even those who lost their sight play the piano. What that means is true motivation comes from within, and lives to tell the story of success. It also means you have to guard your words, thoughts, and dreams so that the spoiler won’t interrupt the flow. Believe it or not, it all begins with positive energy, positive thinking, and drive. No one gets to tell you it’s over, or that your chances to win are limited because you aren’t the picture of perfection (no one is). Coasting along in life takes you much longer to get to your destination than powering through, embracing and giving inspiration. Remember every day gives new opportunities and new graces. Use them like there is no tomorrow, and that is how you find your true purpose. Always remember this concept- “Life is 10% what happens to you, and 90% how you react to it” (Charles R. Swindoll) so change your attitude, and your Altitude will rise!!

Happy Wednesday (Hump Day) Ever wonder where it originated?

It’s fun to learn new facts on a daily basis, so here are some fun facts:

The name Wednesday derives from two mighty but distinct gods. The Old English word for Wednesday indicates that the day was named for the Germanic god Woden. In Romance languages, the name is derived from the Roman god Mercury. (For example, Wednesday is mercredi in French and miercuri in Romanian.) Woden (also known as Odin) and Mercury have  been associated since Scandinavian and Roman cultures crossed paths. Under Woden supervision, the earth and sky were created from the dead body of a giant named Ymir. Woden also created the first man and woman from an ash tree and an alder. As if fashioning the human race wasn’t enough, Woden also established the laws of the universe.

Mercury was the messenger to the gods, along with being the patron of science, the arts, travelers and athletes. Today, he is one of the most widely recognized gods. Usually, he’s depicted wearing a winged helmet and sandals.

Starting around 1965, Wednesday began being referred to as hump day. Smack dab in the middle of the traditional work week, arriving at Wednesday symbolizes that we’ve made it over the hump and the weekend is in sight.

Happy Wednesday, and Awesome Thursday is on the way!!!

Why do we "secretly" want to live beyond our means?

Keeping up with the Jones’s is a matter of principle, a matter of mind over matter, and simply having the need to associate with those who appear to live in the lap of luxury or those who appear to fit into the social upper crust of society. It’s a dangerous game, a game that can land you flat broke, in bankruptcy, or miserable every single day trying to figure out how to pay bills you can’t afford, to impress people who probably don’t even notice, and to satisfy your inner cravings of needing social affirmation.

I learned very early in my adult life to rid myself of the errant desire to fake my way through life and to remember to climb up the staircase where I was purposed to climb, and not the crystal stairs where only “Jimmy Choo” shoes are allowed. The unnecessary stresses of living on credit cards, or borrowing from Peter to pay Paul is a crisis that deserves a counseling session. Your friends are people who accept you for who you are, where you live, where you work, your size, gender, ethnicity, and whatever else were assigned to your life.

There are people in my life that are millionaires, and others who make under the poverty level. I love and support them, and have learned to respect the hard work that they have put in to acquire their wealth and others who work just as hard but have acquired very little. I understand and respect their journey, and can do so without being envious of their accomplishments, and I certainly don’t look down my nose at those friends and family who are in the struggle. There are numbers in between every other number, which is how people and their status ranks. What that means is, be inspired by the success but don’t compare it to yours. It’s apples and oranges, and not the same game.

Money is certainly a valuable asset in this life, and not having any sucks! But what sucks more than anything is transgressing against who you are to acquiesce to who someone wants you to be. Being great with money management, saving, investing, and being an overall budgeteer is awesome. Living your life vicariously through friends and family is not!! Take a step back, and remember one very important fact. It’s not just “How much money you make, but how much your money makes for you”. Be true to yourself, and be inspired by others, not a duplication of them or their lifestyles.

BE HAPPY, BE CONFIDENT, BE PRODUCTIVE, BE YOURSELF AND MOST OF ALL …… EVOLVE!!

Happy New Year 2020!!

"Shackling your Soul" and not realizing it!

Your words, yes your own words can make or break you! They speak of trouble, fear, bitterness and crazed deceit. It happens when you least expect it, and every time you speak, your words create a sound barrier around you to either “Shackle” your soul, or to “Create” your astonishing world. It takes practice, and no one can do it for you. It’s like your personal life blue print that is designed by the ink from your tongue, and the inspiration from your soul. Sounds rudimentary right? Maybe, but understanding and remembering that you are the author of your happiness, and only you can tell your story is the key that unlocks the door to your massive triumph. Your journey begins everyday with reflection, gratefulness, purpose, and ultimately creation. American Express said it best “Don’t leave home without it”, Think about your soul, your success, your prosperity, and never leave home without being properly clothed in releasing your happiness and nurturing your soul so that you can accomplish exactly what you believe. It’s all relative but it must first start with your WORDS!!! Happy New Year!

(Friday's Opals) Are Apologies ever really real?

I have met people who say after an offense, there is nothing one can say to make them believe that the offender was really sorry for what was said or done. Some experts support the idea that an effective apology is composed of at least 5 components; Such as acknowledgment, regret, a sincere statement of “I’m sorry”, an acknowledgment that the party in question was somehow violated, and finally a request for forgiveness.  Now that, in my opinion, is a lot!  Most offenders, (or at least those who would admit to it) can barely get the words, ” I apologize” or I’m sorry out of their mouths, let alone being accompanied by multiple facets and levels of the apology. Not to say that the above 5 proposed components of the apology are never appropriate, however it’s unlikely that the average person would acquiesce to them.  An effective apology, in my opinion, should be sincere, and heartfelt, as only the person delivering the apology can really articulate the regret, and only that person knows if the apology is organic or authentic. So when faced with having to deliver an apology, don’t allow anyone to challenge the authenticity of your apology, do it from the heart, and move forward, but don’t forget to change directions endeavoring to avoid repeating the offense.

Everyone needs a "Life Coach" on speed dial!

Mentorship- “Living life accountable to others and myself”

Walking your “Life Journey” can prove to be intimidating and lonely at times. Mistakes, mis-steps, mis-judgments, or mis-haps are simply a part of Life. But…. being on an Island while trying to figure out the map back to sanity and productivity can be tricky. You were not created or designed to walk this journey alone, neither do you have to. Networking, Connectivity, and Mentorship deserve a “Thumb Up” it’s how we grow, evolve, without being impaled by guilt, and fear. Willing Wednesday!

Responsibility – “Responding- to- your- Ability”

Its responsibility Wednesday, and time for a reality check about life’s unfair provisions, and those things that we complain about on a daily basis. Those things that make us unhappy with our family and forefathers who’s resulting actions caused us to inherit horrible genes, lack of money, poor manners, lack of mentors, or any other undesirable situation. This may sound really insensitive and harsh, but the reality of life is that ultimately, you are still responsible for your life, without exception, and even in its very precarious condition. Your abilities may not measure in length or depth in comparison to others that you meet or compare yourself to. So, why measure at all?   There will always be someone bigger and better, and that’s perfectly fine as long as you represent your “Absolute Best”. That best places you ahead of the game in any regard, so discard the pedestal syndrome, because everyone has issues, some just more pronounced than others. Learn to love yourself, and embrace growth! Furthermore, looking from the outside in, to compare yourself to someone else’s success is naive and unhealthy. Although you may think that you want their cars, homes, careers, and trophy wife (or to be one), it remains a mystery as to if you would even want to do what it takes to sustain it! The word for this week is “Epiphany”
